Why STEM subjects and fashion design go hand in hand

Fashion design is the art of applying design, aesthetics and natural beauty to her clothes and accessories. It is influenced by cultural and social attitudes, and varies over time and place. Fashion designers work in a number of ways in designing clothing and accessories such as bracelets and necklaces. Because of the time it takes to bring clothing to the market, designers must anticipate the changing tastes of consumers.

Designers do research on fashion trends and interpret it for their audience. Their special designs are used by manufacturers. This is the essence of the role of a designer; however, there are variations in this regard that are determined by the buying and selling approach, and product quality; for example, budget retailers will use cheap fabrics to interpret trends, but top-grade retailers will ensure that the best available fabrics are used.

Fashion designers try to design functional and aesthetic clothing. They consider who is inclined to wear the clothes and the situation in which it will be worn, they have a wide variety and combination of materials to work with and a variety of colors, patterns and styles to choose from. Although most clothing worn for everyday wear falls within a narrow range of conventional styles, unusual clothing is usually sought for special occasions such as evening wear or party dresses.

Some clothing is tailor-made for an individual, as in the case of haute couture or bespoke tailoring. Today, most clothing is designed for the mass market, especially the casual and daily wear of so-called ready-to-wear.

Structure

Fashion designers can work full-time for a fashion house, as a 'home designer', who has a design, or they work on their own or as part of a team. Freelance designers work for themselves, selling their designs to the fashion house, directly to the store, or to the clothing manufacturers. Garments bear the buyer's label. Some fashion designers create their own labels, where their designs are marketed. Some fashion designers are self-employed and design for each client. Other upscale clothing designers serve specialty stores or upscale fashion department stores. These designers create original clothing, as well as those that follow an established fashion trend. Most fashion designers, however, work for apparel manufacturers, creating men's, women's, and children's clothing designs for the mass market. Great designer brands that have 'names' as their brands like Abercrombie & amp; Fitch, Justice, or Juicy will likely be designed by an individual design team under the direction of the design director.

Designing garments

Fashion designers work in different ways. Some people sketch their ideas on paper, while others hang cloth on dresses. When a designer is completely satisfied with the fit of toile (or muslin), he or she will consult a professional pattern maker who then makes a finished, working version of the pattern out of the card or through a computerized system. Finally, the sample garment is constructed and tested on the model to ensure it is operational clothing.

History

Fashion design is generally thought to have begun in the 19th century with Charles Frederick Worth who was the first designer to have his labels sewn into the clothes he created. Prior to the earlier draper set up of the fashion maison couture (fashion house) in Paris, the designs and clothing creations were handled by most anonymous tailors, and the high fashion was derived from being worn at the royal palace. Worth's success is such that he is able to dictate to his customers what they should wear instead of following in their footsteps as did the previous tailors. The term couturier is actually first created to describe it. While all articles of clothing from every period of time are studied by academics as costume design, only clothing made after 1858 is considered a fashion design.

During this period many design houses began to hire artists to sketch or design paints for clothing. The pictures are shown to the client, which is much cheaper than producing the actual sample garment in the workspace. If clients like their designs, they order them and the resulting garment makes money for the house. Thus, the designer's tradition of sketching a garment design rather than presenting apparel on the model for the customer begins as an economy.

Mode type

Clothing produced by clothing manufacturers is divided into three main categories, although these can be divided into additional, more specific categories

Haute couture

Until the 1950s, dominant fashion outfits were designed and produced on the basis of clothing or haute couture (French for high sewing), with each garment created for a particular client. The couture outfit is made to order for individual customers, and is usually made of high-quality, expensive fabrics, sewn with extreme attention to detail and completion, often using time-consuming and hand-wired techniques. Visible and fit gets priority over the material cost and the time it takes to make it. Due to the high cost of each outfit, haute couture only produces little direct advantage for the fashion houses, but it is important for prestige and publicity.

Ready (prÃÆ'ªt-ÃÆ' -porter)

Ready, or prÃÆ'ªt-ÃÆ' -porter, clothing is a cross between haute couture and mass market. They are not made for individual customers, but are very carefully taken in choice and pieces of fabric. Clothing is made in small quantities to ensure exclusivity, so the price is rather expensive. The ready-made collections are usually presented by fashion houses each season during a period known as Fashion Week. This happens all over the city and happens twice a year. The main season of Fashion Week includes, spring/summer, autumn/winter, resorts, swimming, and brides.

Mass market

Currently the fashion industry relies more on mass market sales. The mass market serves a variety of customers, producing ready-made clothing using trends set by famous names in fashion. They often wait about a season to ensure a style will follow before producing their own version of the original look. To save money and time, they use cheaper fabrics and simpler production techniques that can be easily done by the machine. The final product can be sold much cheaper.

There is a type of design called "kutch" design derived from the German word "kitschig" which means "ugly" or "not aesthetic." Kitsch can also refer to "wearing or displaying something that is no longer in fashion."

The lowest 10 percent earned less than $ 32,150, and the top 10 percent earned more than $ 124,780. The average annual income is $ 52,860 (Ã, Â £ 28,340) in clothing, goods, and ideas - the industry that employs the largest number of fashion designers.

Fashion design services

Fashion design services provide services such as trends and color forecasting, market analysis, design concepts and design documentation for manufacturers. In this way manufacturers can contract design requirements rather than maintain internal design teams. Fashion design service providers can sell designs directly or licensed them with royalties.
