Hair styling products have a significant impact on the creation of various hair styles and trends throughout history. For the ancient Egyptians, physical appearance was essential to the process of embalming. Hair is often styled to preserve the individuality of the deceased. A fatty substance, now known as hair gel, is used to dress the hair and keep it in place. The 1980s punk movement was popularized using hair gel to sculpt a sharpened hairstyle, such as the mohawks. Ancient Gauls have discovered a waxy soap-like substance, similar to a hair wax, as a hairdresser. Years later, the same soap-like substance is used as a cleaning agent. In 1948, Chase Products became the first company to pack hair spray. Hair spray became very popular in the 1950s because of its ability to keep hair in place and prevent hair from falling out of style look.

Hair gel
Hair gel is a hair style product used to stabilize hair into a particular hairstyle. The end result is similar to, but stronger than, from hair spray and hair wax. Hair gel is most often used in male hairdressers, but not gender specific. Hair gel can come in the form of tubes, pots, small bags, or even in spray form.
Haircut
Hair wax is a thick candlestick product that helps keep hair in place. Unlike some products such as hair gel that leave the texture of hard hair, hair leaving hair flexible. Many manufacturers are now releasing different versions of hair wax, such as pomade, putty, glue, glypto, whip, and style paste.
Hair mousse
Hair mousse is a product that is added to the hair for extra volume and shine. It is most often produced as a cream, but can also be found as a spray. Hair mousse increases volume without causing clumps or buildup. This is a lighter alternative to hair gel. Mousse is generally applied to wet hair roots before drying or styling hair. Mousse can also be used to add definitions to curly hair, or to add texture to the hair for a beach-blowing effect.
Pomade
Pomade is an oily or waxy substance that makes hair look slick and shiny. Unlike hair sprays and hair gel, pomades are not dry and often require some washers to be removed. Special shampoo can be used to speed up the removal process. Other products that have the same effect as pomade but make hair less greasy include olive oil, dishwashing liquid, and lemon juice.
Most pomades contain petroleum jelly (and in fact, petroleum jelly can be used alone as a pomade) and mineral oil, and many also contain a kind of wax. They may also contain perfumes and dyes. A large number of pomades are still in production today and vary in factors such as weight, shine, and aroma. The hardest ones will have a higher proportion of beeswax while the lighter ones may have a higher proportion of oil.
Hair spray
Hair sprays are an ordinary home watering solution that is used to stabilize hair into a particular style. It was first developed and produced in 1948 by Chase Products, based in Broadview, Illinois. Worse than hair gel or hair wax, it is sprayed directly onto the hair to withstand the style for long periods of time. Spray evenly into the hair using a pump or aerosol spray nozzle. This product can leave hair feels 'crispy' unless brushed.
The active ingredient in hair sprays is called polymer, which keeps hair rigid and sturdy without breaking. The solvent, which forms most of the content from the hairspray, is responsible for carrying these polymers in a solution.
Initially, the solvents found in hair sprays are chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). CFCs are non-toxic, non-flammable, and produce ideal aerosol propellants. However, when the study concluded that CFCs caused stratospheric ozone destruction, they were replaced by other solvents, such as alcohols and hydrocarbons.
One of the polymers used in hair sprays is polyvinylpyrrolidone, which is soluble in water. Polydimethylsiloxane water-insoluble polymers are added to make longer lasting resistance. Some of the less common polymers found in hair sprays include copolymers with vinyl acetate and copolymers with maleic anhydride.
Some hair sprays use polymers and natural solvents such as vegetable sap dissolved in alcohol. One of the popular ingredients in natural hair sprays is the Arabian gum, made from the sap of various species of acacia trees. Gum tragacanth is another herbal candy used to strengthen calico and crepe, as well as hair.
Hair volumizer
Hair volumizers are used to temporarily add volume, body and shine to thin or flat hair. Hair volumizers are used by both men and women. Men turn to hairdressers to make their hair look more dense. Volumizers come in various forms such as shampoos, conditioners, sprays, pomades, and lotions.
Hair volumizers contain a humectant, which works by pulling moisture from the surrounding area into a strand of hair, thus swelling the hair and making it look thicker. Various polymers are present in the hairdo layer, making them look thicker and shiny.
Shampoo and conditioner shapes of volumizers are used like regular shampoo or conditioner. Sprays and lotion shapes from volumizers are used on wet hairs near the hair roots. To use a hairdresser, people using products should turn their heads down and gradually blow dry hair, with air blown along the hair shaft until hair dries. Drying the hair in this position will increase the volume and achieve the desired effect.
While the styling products listed above are the most commonly used, there are other types of products as well. Serum, rineless conditioner, clay, hair tonic, dry hair powder shampoo, and hot protective spray are often used hairdresser products in salons and homes across the country.
Disadvantages
When applied properly, most hair styling products will not damage the hair. However, there is always the risk of drying hair while using all types of styling products. Some hair styling products contain ingredients that can dissolve the natural oils of hair, or substances that can cause a buildup that produces so-called "dull hair". The buildup of these hazardous materials can cause problems such as dry hair, hair loss, eczema, or hair thinning.
When using a hair dryer to dry and form a person's hair, the heat used can cause damage to the hair strands. This heat damage can be prevented by using a kind of hot protective spray.
