The Brook Brothers is an English pop duo consisting of Geoff Brook (born Geoffrey Owen Brooks, April 12, 1943, Winchester, Hampshire) and Ricky Brook (born Richard Alan Brooks, October 24, 1940, Winchester, Hampshire).
The Brook Brothers started out as a skiffle group in 1956 but, after winning a television talent show, changed their look and sound to approach the style of The Everly Brothers. They signed with Top Rank Records in 1960 and released the cover of "Greenfields" by The Brothers Four that same year. The song was a hit in Italy but attracted little attention in their home country. After several singles were released, they switched to Pye Records, and their second release, "Warpaint" (written by Howard Greenfield and Barry Mann), became the UK's Top 5 hit. The song is also recorded by Bill Haley, among others.
Following the success of this single they released a full-length album and toured with Cliff Richard and Bobby Rydell. They took part in the Annual Winners Polls Concert at the Wembley Pool, London on April 15, 1962. They were produced by the young Tony Hatch, and appeared in the film, It's Trad, Dad! They also included Song For Europe for the 1962 Eurovision Song Contest, but did not advance in the contest.
After their last hit chart, "Trouble Is My Middle Name", in 1963, the group's popularity faded, and they abandoned the public view in 1965. All of their Pye records were re-published by CDs by Castle Music in the 1990s.
