At the end of the 19th and early 20th century, Venetian blinds were widely adopted in office buildings to regulate light and air. One of the largest orders for Venetian curtains ever placed is to Burlington Venetian Blind Co., Burlington, Vermont, which provides curtains for the Empire State Building window in New York City.

Vertical
Unlike horizontal blinds, vertical blinds are less likely to collect dust as they stand vertically. Because they draw sideways rather than lifting and lowering, they are easier and faster to operate.
