Shade Shade , also known as slatted shades or Venetian Blind shades are louvered sunglasses. The design of louvered sunglasses was released in America in the 1950s, and modern designs in the early 1980s. The 1980s design became a popular teen fashion trend.
Instead of having a lens, the design is characterized by a "shutter" motif, which is part of the frame. Nuances are marketed as suitable for men and women and are available in a wide range of styles and colors. Depending on the design, Shutter Shades may not function as sunglasses; although some models contain UV-resistant lenses, many do not, and show only a series of horizontal plastic "shades," which do not provide eye protection from UV light or prevent large amounts of light from entering the eye.

History
Shade Shade is a porous sunglasses design. The first louvered sunglasses were from the 1950s, and the modern version was released in the early 1980s. Sometimes referred to as "Venetian Blinders", examples are featured in music videos for "Glittering Prize" by Simple Minds in 1982 and "Obsessions" by Animotion in 1984. They were also popularized by the professional wrestler Macho Man Randy Savage, whom he wear before many matches, as well as in his promo. Alain Mikli created a contemporary custom design for Kanye West, once again influenced by the 1980s mode. The West popularized the Mikli design in the music video for "Stronger." In 2007, Shutter Shades, Inc. released the design, which is also patented. and coined the term "Shutter Shades," which is also a trademark with the USPTO.
