src: www.ford.com

The Ford F-Series Super Duty (often abbreviated to Ford Super Duty ) is a series of trucks produced by Ford Motor Company. Introduced in 1998 for the 1999 model, the F Series Super Series trucks marked the addition of heavy-duty pickup to the Ford F-Series range, including F-250 and F-350 pickups; cabin F-Super Duty chassis 1987-1997 previously replaced by the F-450 and F-550 Super Duty.

Distinguished from the F-150 by a separate bodywork, the Super Duty truck utilizes a different chassis of the F-150 with heavy-duty chassis and suspension components to allow higher load charge and crane capacity; In addition, the product line continues to use Ford PowerStroke diesel engines. With GVWR of more than 8,500 pounds (3,900 kg); The Super Duty pickup is a Class 3 truck while the chassis-cab truck is in Class 4-5. The F-Series Super Duty has been used as a Ford Excursion SUV-size SUV chassis.

Ford F-250 to F-550 Super Duty Trucks are assembled at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky with medium duty F-650 and F-750 assembled in Ohio Assembly in Avon Lake, Ohio (before 2014, medium-duty trucks are assembled in a joint venture with Blue Diamond Truck with Navistar in Mexico). In 2016, Ford Super Duty is sold in USA, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela (F-250 and F-350), Suriname, Brazil (F-350/F-4000), Argentina (F-4000 only), Angola (F -250 and F-350), Cambodia, Middle East and Iceland (F-350 only) in LHD only. In Australia, where officially imported in Brazilian right-hand drive between 2001-06, newer US-made units can be imported but must be converted locally to right drive. In Suriname, even though traffic is on the left side of the road, imports and registration of left hand drive vehicles are allowed.

Use of previous name

In 1958, Ford introduced the Super Duty family of V8 engines. Built exclusively for trucks, the V8 401, 477, and 534 cubic-inch gasoline is the largest V8 block engine ever manufactured by Ford Motor Company (other than 1100 cu in GAA, developed for the US Army as a powerhouse; however it is a cut- down 'V-12, with an angle of 60 Â ° V, and was not originally designed as a V-8), and is the world's largest mass-loaded V8 engine. To show off the engine launch, the F-Series "Big Job" conventional truck variant is re-branded as Super Duty, a name added to other Ford trucks as well. Along with Ford C-Series and H-Series, the conventional N-Series adopted the name Super Duty. Although bad fuel economy will prove uncompetitive to diesel engines, Super Task endurance will remain in production until 1981.

In 1987 Ford will revitalize its name as a Class 4 truck named "F-Super Duty". Produced as a chassis cabin with an open frame for the bed that will suit its future applications, the truck will be equipped with a 7.5 liter engine gasoline or IDI 7.3 liter diesel engine. The weight and class of these trucks would make them the heaviest trucks on the F-Series line at the time.

F-Series Changes

Following the redesign of the Ford F-150 1997, the Ford F-Series started the transition in its layout. In response to a demographic change in pickup truck purchases during the 1980s and 1990s, Ford changed the F-150 design apart from the larger F-250 and F-350 (which remain in production). While still a full-size pickup under the skin, to expand its appeal among consumers, the F-150 adopted aerodynamics like cars and comfort features. To market trucks that attracted commercial buyers, fleet buyers and towed users, Ford sought to build a separate dedicated heavy duty truck platform (replacing the use of a chassis for all of its trucks). By extending into two separate but related platforms for the F-Series trucks, the inevitable compromise inherent in offering a variety of load bearer capacity is avoided. The F-250HD lasted until 1998 (alongside F-250 1997/1998 separated under the F-150); F-350 hiatus pickup after 1997.

Maps Ford Super Duty

First generation (1999-2005)

Launched in early 1998 as an early model in 1999, the Ford F-Series Super Duty comprises an F-250 pickup truck, an F-350 pickup truck and a chassis cabin, and introduces the F-450 and F-550 chassis cab trucks (see below) . Super Duty Trucks will be produced with three cab configurations: a standard two-door cabin, 2 2 doors SuperCab, and a four-door crew cabin. SuperCab configuration of Super Duty marks the introduction of two standard hinged rear doors in an expanded cabin, a feature that was also adopted by the F-150 and Ranger/Mazda B-Series for 1999. The standard cabin is produced with an 8-foot bed; SuperCab and crew cabin are manufactured with 6 3/4-foot beds, with an optional 8-foot bed. Two-wheel drive is standard, with four wheel drive as an option; on an F-350 pickup truck, an optional double rear axle with drive configuration.

Designed by Andrew Jacobson (Ford F-150 designer 1997) and Moray Callum, in addition to taillamp lenses and tailgate, the Super Task-Series truck does not share the exterior parts seen with the Ford F-150. Under the skin, only the basic 5.4L V8 and 4R100 transmission devices are shared. While sharing a similar aerodynamic cabin design from smaller partners, the outside of the Super Duty truck is much different from the windshield. Despite influences often compared to Dodge Ram 1994-2001, Super Duty also gets styling elements from larger Ford trucks, including the Ford LTL-9000 and Aeromax, with advanced hoods, large grille, and low fenders. A feature taken from the 1996 redesign of Louisville/Aeromax is in the design of side window openings: the front is lowered, allowing for increased side visibility (as well as larger side mirrors). To improve aerodynamics over metal-framed mirrors, towel mirrors of manual telescope trailers are available as an option. As the first industry, 2 complete hooks complete complete ring-style hooks are included. A small update occurred in a 2002 model that saw a new instrument group with a digital odometer.

Update 2005

For the 2005 model year, Ford Super Duty trucks were given exterior and interior renewal. For the exterior, the new grille, front bumper, and headlights are introduced along with the introduction of tailgate locks for all pickup trucks. Under the skin (with thick frame rails), the updated Triton gasoline engine is introduced with higher engine output and larger alternators; in response to increased power, all trucks were given 4-wheel disc brakes (with two-piston calipers). To accommodate larger brakes, the 17-inch wheels become standard, with an optional 18-inch wheel (on a single rear wheel truck); Forged Alcoa wheels are an option. The old Twin I-Beam front suspension runs on a two-wheel drive truck.

For the interior, some changes are made to improve functionality for end users. Along with the addition of the driver's glove compartment, the truck adds an additional switch option installed on the dashboard (for owners customizing equipment such as snow, winches and additional lights); this is a switch that is usually designed user. For users towing, the new option is Ford TowCommand, the Trailer brake controller mounted on the dashboard, allowing it to integrate with ABS systems and machine computers from the factory.

Mechanical details

During production, the first generation Ford F-Series Super Duty is sold with two petrol engines and two diesel engines.

Gasoline engine

Replacing the overhead-valve engine used in the previous F-Series model, for Super Tasks, Ford switched to the overhead-cam Triton engine family (truck version of Ford Modular engine).

At launch, the standard engine in Super Duty is the Triton V8. Produces 255Ã, hp/350Ã, lb-ft of torque, SOHC 16-valve V8 divided by F-150 and Ford E-Series. During 1999, the machine returned to 260 hp. In 2005, the cylinder head was redesigned for a 3-valve design, turning it into a 24-valve V8; the output is increased to 300 hp/365 lb-ft of torque.

In lieu of the old 7.5L/460 V8 running, for Super Tasks, Ford introduced the Triton V10. A 20-valve SOHC engine, the V10 produces 310 hp/425 lb-ft of torque. In 2005, the V10 will also receive a 3-valve cylinder head, increasing its output to 362 hp/457 Â lb-ft of torque.

Both the V8 and V10 Triton engines are designed with an insecure cooling system to protect the engine in case of major coolant losses. If the engine gets too hot, the engine will operate on its half-cylinder. Alternating back and forth between each set of 4 (or 5) pistons, sets that do not receive fuel and ignition operate to pump air through the engine to lower the temperature. Although engine output is limited, depending on vehicle load, outside temperature, and current road conditions, the system is designed to allow vehicles to travel over short distances to obtain services or to reach repair facilities.

Diesel engine

Available in F-250 and F-350 pickup trucks and F-450 and F-550, F-Series chassis cabins are sold with the optional PowerStroke V8 diesel engine manufactured under its joint venture with Navistar International.

At the launch, the Super Duty F-Series was sold with a 7.3L Power Stroke V8. Originally generating 235 hp/500 lb-ft of torque, the engine was back in 2001. The version comes with an automatic transmission producing 250 hp while the example of a manual transmission produces 275 hp; with good transmission, the engine produces 525 lb-ft of torque. Because the 7.3L V8 is no longer able to comply with emissions regulations for diesel engines, it was discontinued in the mid-2003 model.

As the change goes on during the 2003 model year, 6.0L PowerStroke V8 was introduced as a replacement for the previous 7.3L V8 in the LHD market supplied with American assembled trucks while the RHD supplied from Brazil kept 7.3 up to 2005. As before, the engine continued to be produced by Navistar. A 32-valve pushrod engine, the 6.0L V8 features a single variable-blade turbocharger. While the smaller engine-displacement of its predecessor, its output is higher than 7.3L, providing 325Ã, hp/560 l-ft of torque (in 2005, the torque increased to 570 l-ft). Due to a problem with Navistar head bolts redesigning the engine with a reinforced head, more torque and, the power of releasing new designs in 2005-6. Like its predecessor, 6.0L will end production running due to tighter emission requirements, replaced as part of the Super Duty redesign for the 2008 model year.

Transmission

Four transmissions available. Some five-speed manual transmission configuration ZF5 offered. Small block patterns, large block patterns, and diesel. Close available ratio and width ratio, as well as 4wd and 2wd configurations with the exception of 2wd version integrated brake driveshaft using 4x4 style transmission. The previous version s5-42 rated up to 420Ã, t-lbs of torque, while later versions -5-47 rated up to 470 ft-lbs. ZF 6-speed manual for diesel engines. An optional 4-speed 4R100 automatic is available for gas or diesel engines, then replaced with a 5-speed automatic TorqShift. The 5-speed automatics are rated at exactly 1,000 pounds (450 kg), enabling higher towing capacity of the truck with a standard 5/6-speed manual transmission. 6-speed manual transmission comes with integrated PTO.

Torqshift 5R110

Torqshift 5-speed 5R110 automatic transmission replaces 4-speed on 2003 model diesel trucks to compete with Allison 1000 series from General Motors; it is paired with a new 6.0 liter diesel engine. The TorqShift design in fact has six advanced ratios, but only five are advertised, with 'hidden' teeth only used in extreme cold weather. The TorqShift 1st to 5th gear ratios are 3.11, 2.22, 1.55, 1.00, and 0.71: 1. It also uses 4 alternate gears, overdrive on gear 2 of the 3-speed automatic component (0.72 x 1.55), ie 1, 10: 1 used in cold start conditions to help engine and transmission of heating. In TorqShift, after the Tow/Haul mode is enabled, it can help improve driver control while pulling large loads up and down from steep grades and automatically minimize shifts and maximize available torque. Upon down, the Tow/Haul mode uses engine braking to help extend the life of the brakes and improve driver control. The adaptive shift function monitors the performance of TorqShift over its lifetime, and adjusts the shear stress in real time to ensure consistent shift in flavor and compensates for wear. For ease of maintenance, the TorqShift oil filter is a spin-off style, which is mounted on the passenger side exterior of the transmission. Also the fluid lines larger than TorqShift and larger transmission oil coolers help to ensure cooler operating temperatures, even under the most demanding conditions. This is Ford's first automatic transmission to display PTO. Transmissions can be equipped with an integrated PTO provision (which automatically locks the torque converter that provides power to the PTO gear when the operator turns on the PTO switch).

Transfer case and 4x4

In the 4x4 model, there is a manual-driven case floor switch option with a manual front-lock hub or an Electronic-Shift-On-the-Fly (ESOF, $ 185 above manual) slider with automatic vacuum enabled and (in case of failure) manual replace the front hub. The optional FX4 model is basically a 4x4 standard with Off Road package that includes some additions such as heavy duty Rancho shock upgrades, rear-lock electronic differentials, added skid plate for fuel tanks and transfer cases, and two "FX4" decals on both. bedside back instead of the standard "4x4". For all 4x4 models, 2x4-speed transfer case 4x4-LOW has a gear reduction of 2.72: 1. The Brazilian and Venezuelan versions only have ESOF transfer cases.

Suspension

For the first generation Super Duty range, Ford uses several different suspension configurations, depending on the truck model. All models have large 3-duty leaf springs and staggered shock absorbers. A standard stabilizer rod is included on the dual rear wheel model and option on a single rear-wheel version. An optional military package slide-in with heavier duty springs is available on a single rear wheel model All versions of Super Duty trucks are equipped with four-wheel disc brakes.

In the two-wheel drive F-250 and F-350, the front self-contained Twin I-Beam with coil spring is used; Their four-wheel drive drive comes with a solid front axle (Dana 50 and Dana 60) with leaf springs. In 2005, the front suspension was updated because the four-wheel drive truck was converted to front coil springs; to reduce unsprung weight, the installation of the front bar is changed to the frame instead of the front axle. The manual lock hub on a Super Duty truck is made by Warn.

In the F-250 and F-350, the rear suspension uses a heavy 3-duty leaf springs and staggered shock absorbers; a standard stabilizer rod is included on the double rear wheel model. The single rear-wheel version is equipped with 10.5-inch (270 mm) 10-axle axle 10.5 Sterling with conventional or limited-slip differential options; originally developed for previous generation Ford trucks, is reinforced for use in Super Duty. On the double-rear wheel F-350, the rear axle is Dana 80.

In the F-450 and F-550 cabin trucks, the front axle of the Fund 60 was replaced with the Super 60 Fund in 2005. Rear suspension on the 2011-2014 F-450s Pickup uses a Fund Gandard 80 and 2008-2010 & Pickup F-450s 2015-2018 used Dana S 110. F-450 cab-chassis using Dana S 110. F-550s using Dana 135 from 1995 to 2004; in 2005, the rear axle of Dana S 110 was added to the F-550.

F-250 solid shaft

The 50 Fund shaft shown on most F-250 Super Dutys is very different from the original model. Dana 50 started as a Twin Traction Beam shaft (like an independent suspension) in 1980. This went all the way up to the 1997 model. The Super Duty model then uses a solid axle version of this axle. However, the ring, pinion, carrier and u joints all remain the same. Fund 50 was removed from the truck in 2004, endorsing Fund 60 and last used in Ford Excursion.

Crop level

During production, Ford Focus Super Series 1999-2007 was offered in three major trim levels:

The XL base is the "truck work" level of the F-Series Super Duty. Standard features include manual transmission, AM/FM stereo with two front-mounted, heater and blower speakers, vinyl-covered seats with bench seats, steel wheels with black center hubs, front and rear black bumper, black "front egg grille -elect ", and a manual window and door lock. Optional features offered at this trim level include a cloth-trimmed seating surface or vinyl-trimmed and cloth seats, power windows and door locks, AM/FM stereo with cassette player (then a single-disc CD player instead). of the cassette player) and four speakers, front and back chrome bumpers as part of the XL Decor Group , automatic transmission, and air conditioning.

Mid-range XLT is the most popular trim level of the F-Series Super Duty. This adds the following features to the basic trim level of XL : AM/FM stereo with cassette player (later, single-disc CD player instead of cassette player) and four speakers, trimmed seat with surface cloth, wheel hub bright center, front and rear bumper chrome, chrome "egg-crank" front grille with black inserts, power windows and door locks, and air conditioning. Optional features offered at this trim level include aluminum wheels, keyless entry (later, this option becomes standard equipment at this trim level), AM/FM stereo with cassette player and single-disc CD player (later, six-discs, CD changer in-dash), automatic transmission, and power adjustable bench drivers.

The top-of-the-line Lariat is the most luxurious trim level of the F-Series Super Duty. This adds the following features to the mid-range XLT trim level: AM/FM stereo with cassette player and single-disc CD player (later, six-disc CD, in-dash changer) leather-trimmed seats, chrome-plated alloys and aluminum hubs, keyless entry, security systems, electronic climate controls, powered front bench seats with folding center armrests, wooden interior trim panels and chrome front grille with chrome inserts. Available options include two-tone exterior paint, color-tight grille inserts and front & amp; rear bumpers, bucket seats replace bench seats, heated front seats, and automatic transmissions (which later became standard on this trim level).

There are some special edition Super Duty models on offer as well.

The LE Lariat (Limited Edition) was first offered for the 2000 F-350 Crew Cab 'duallie' (dual-rear wheel) 2000 model, and featured a special Clear Clear Coat with Harvest Gold Metallic two-a paint job air, exterior sun cover with permission lights, 16 "Polished Aluminum Wheels with Bright Hub Cover, blazing running board, and leather upholstery front and rear seats (with special LE Lariat seam) with dual center console; above standard Lariat feature.

Factory integrated fog lamps, adjustable power pedals and reverse sensing systems were added to the list of standard equipment for 2001.

For 2002, LE Lariat is available in two new paint colors. Either Ebony Clear Coat is a solid paint, or with the typical Ebony and Dark Shadow Gray Metallic two-tone. The interior also received updates for the 2002 model year including new Medium perforated Flint leather trims for quad captain seats, and a new look for wood fiber display on door panels and console covers.

2004 is the last model year for the LE Lariat package . The only major change was Arizona Beige Metallic replacing the Dark Shadow Gray on an exclusive two-tone paint job, and Parchment skin replacing Medium Flint.

F-450/F-550

To bridge the gap between the pickup line and the much larger medium duty F-650/F-750, Ford introduced the F-450 and F-550 variants of Super Tasks; with GVWR available from 17,950-19,500 pounds, it pushed Super Duty into the Class 5 truck market. Only available as a chassis cabin for commercial upfitters, both versions are equipped with double rear wheels.

Although mostly aimed at fleet buyers, the F-450 and F-550 can be configured on XL, XLT, and Level trim runs available to Super Duty pickup buyers. The only gasoline engine is 6.8L V10 while the PowerStroke 7.3L is a diesel option; in 2003, it was replaced by PowerStroke 6.0L.

In 2005, the F-450 and F-550 received further updates for the exterior than the rest of the Super Duty line, with an extended front bumper and front fenders; The F-550 receives a front axle "wide-track" to sharpen its turning radius.

Worldwide

The first generation Ford F-350 Super Duty was also assembled in Venezuela as a small commercial truck from 1999 to 2010. For this market the F-350 features a 5.4L V8 Triton engine, a 5-speed manual transmission, and a choice of 4x2 or 4x4.

The Ford Super Duty truck is built in Brazil, with engines different from its North American counterparts and fewer options, initially between 1999 and 2011, with limited reintroduction of the F-350 by 2014. The dual rear wheel variants of the F-350 are known locally as F-4000. They are widely exported to Australia (F-250 and F-350), South Africa (F-250) and Argentina (F-250, redirected as F-100 and F-350 DRW crowned F-4000), usually following the Brazil specification (with clear changes from cockpit locations in the version targeted to Australia, South Africa and other RHD markets) but Australia has a wider choice in pairing with American partners, including automatic transmissions and V8 engines. The extended-cab bodystyle supercab was never officially available in Brazil and regional export markets (Uruguay and Argentina), but made in RHD for export to Australia. South Africa only has a MWM engine and a 5 speed manual transmission, with 2WD and 4WD options for single cabin while the crew cabin has 4WD as standard.

Third generation (2011-2016)

The Super Duty Line receives a large exterior upgrade that includes a new larger front fascia. The engine is also upgraded to better compete with the new Silverado HD and Ram HD. Ford stated in the Chicago Auto Show 2011 that 2011 trucks have the thickest steel frame gauge of any Heavy Duty truck, this is because the framework is the same design that debuted in 1999. The added thickness only helps to increase the strength, it's still the weakest frame of any Heavy Duty. The Ford F-Series Super Duty 2011 was awarded Truckin's "Topline Pulling Power" for 2011. It also won Best Mechanics Best Mechanic of 2011, and the best "Gear of the Year" in the truck category.

The F-450 is able to attract 24,400 pounds (11,100 kg) and has a maximum charge of 4,920 pounds (2,230 kg). The F350 has a maximum towing capacity of 21,600 pounds (9,800 kg) and a payload of 7,110 pounds (3,230 kg). Each engine is mated to a six-speed six-speed automatic transmission TorqShift 6R140. Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 are all present with trim levels including XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum.

The 2nd generation facelift from Ford Super Duty Trucks is assembled at Ford's Kentucky Truck Plant, with additional production for other countries in Venezuela and Mexico. In Venezuela, the F-350 super task is offered as a commercial use of small truck pieces featuring a 6.2L V8 gas engine with TREMEC 5-speed manual TR-4050 transmission with 4x2 or 4x4 drive options. Since 2012 due to government regulations, the F-350 Super Duty Venezuela is equipped with factories to use natural gas and gasoline. The F-250 super duties were also recently reintroduced in this market after ten years. Marketed using the same engine as the F-350 Venezuela, but only with a 6-speed automatic transmission, a choice of 4x2 or 4x4 wheel drive in single and double cab configurations.

Unique feature for Super Task 2011 is the addition of differential locking. Available only for F-250 and SRW F-350 4x4 models with 10.5 rear axles. This is an option USD 390.00 Diesel F-250 rely on brake vacuum cleaner, while the F-350 relies on Hydro-boost. Both the F-250 and SRW F-350 gas versions use a vacuum cleaner. The F-250 is a class 2 truck. While the F-350 SRW, F-350 DRW, & amp; The F-450 pickup is the 3rd class. The F-250 and F-350 (SRW & DRW) have 13.66 inch front brakes and 13.39 inch rear brakes. The F-250 2015-2016 and F-350 have brake disc brakes of 14.29 inches on the front and rear axles as improvements are made for this year's model. Pickup F-450 has a 14.53 inch front brake and a 15.35 inch rear brake. The F-450 has a wider track than the F-350. The F-450 remains available in the 4th grade as a Chassis Cab truck.

The trucks had been investigated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Agency for the failure of the wheel, but the investigation revealed the failure was a driver's fault and had nothing to do with the design.

Powertrain

Machine

Ford Super Duty 2011 is available with gas or diesel engines. The gas options are the E85 capable of a 6.2 L 2-valve SOHC V8, which puts 385 horsepower (287 kW) and 405 pound-feet (549Ã,M) of torque below 10,000 GVWR, 316 hp and 397 Â £/torque over 10,000 GVWR. Diesel is a new 6.7 L Strength Stroke V8, generating 390 hp (291 kW) and 735 Â £ lb ft (997 N m) of torque. The new engine is a Ford product entirely, unlike previous diesels, thereby reducing development costs and postponement of shipments. The 6.8-liter V10 is dropped from the usual Super Task models, but still an option with the F-450 and F-550 chassis cabins, mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission.

Shortly after the opening of the 6.7 L Power Stroke V8, GM launched the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 3500HD with a 6.2-liter Duramax V8 turbodiesel, making 397 hp (296 kW) and 765 lb? Ft (1,037 Ã, N? M) torque. Ford quickly responded by increasing Power Stroke output just months after its initial release, up to 400 horsepower (298 kW) and 800Ã, lb? Ft (1,100-N? M) of torque. For customers who purchase Super Tasks with the original V8 Stroke Power, Ford offers free upgrades at dealerships to new levels of output. Power and torque increased to 440 horsepower (328 kW) and 860 lb? Ft (1.170 Nm) of torque on the 2015 model.

Transmission

No manual transmission is available in the United States, but in Mexico and Venezuela the F-350 is available with 5 Speed Manual. Automatic transmission has manual mode. Diesel engine transmission optionally has PTO and live-drive units. "Live-drive" which means PTO connects directly to the crankshaft engine, while the GM transmission of Allison 1000 and Ram's Aisin uses torque or clutch converters (depending on automatic or manual, respectively).

Cooling system

There are 2 separate cooling systems:

  1. High temperature system that operates at 194 degrees to cool the engine.
  2. Low temperature system with cooling 122 degrees for the following:
  • fuel cooler
  • EGR System
  • the transmission fluid
  • water-to-water intercooler

The belt-mounted low-drive pump on the driver's side circulates the high-temperature cooler, while a separate pump driven by a belt mounted higher on the passenger side circulates the low-temperature cooler.

Fourth generation (2017-present)

On September 24, 2015, Ford launched the 2017 Ford Super Duty line at the 2015 Texas State Fair. It marked the first all-new Super Duty line since their debut in 1998, a frame made of 95% high strength steel and body (like the F-150) made of high grade military aluminum alloy.

For the first time since 1999, the Super Duty and F-150 lines were built using the same cab. In a large departure, the front grille stands alone and the front fenders seen since 1998 are removed from the exterior. The 2-bar grill introduced in 2011 is expanded, integrating the headlamps into its design.

In a switch to an aluminum-intensive body similar to the F-150, Ford created a weight savings of 700 pounds; Regardless of the addition of heavy duty frame and driveline components, the Super Duty 2017 weighs up to 350 pounds lower than the comparable 2016 model. Ford strengthens the framework and drivetrain with a reinforced drive shaft, axle, brake and 4WD transfer box. The F-250 and F-350 pickups are built on a full box frame; chassis-cab models are manufactured on the box frame to the rear of the cab and the C-channel design to the rear.

For production in 2017, the Super Task line shares the ranks of powertrain with its 2016 predecessor: a 6.2L petrol V8, 6.8L V10 (F-450 and above), with 6.7L V8 diesel available in all versions. 6.2L V8 gasoline engine remains at 385 hp but the torque rises from 405 lb-ft to 430Ã, lb-ft. In addition, the V8 petrol generates maximum torque at over 700 RPM less than the previous 405 lb-ft engine. The 6.7L diesel engine also stays at 440Ã, same hp but the torque increases from 860 lb-ft up to 925Ã, lb-ft. The diesel engine now generates its peak torque at 1800RPM instead of the previous 1600RPM. The F-250 receives a six-speed TorqShift-G automatic while all other Super Duty trucks are paired with 6R140 6-speed automatic. The Crew Cab model will have a 34-gallon tank for a 6.75-foot bed and a 48-gallon fuel tank for an 8-foot bed.

All-new Super Duty interior design is similar to the Ford F-150 2015, and shares many F-150 components.

Crop level will continue XL , XLT , Lariat , King Ranch Edition , and Platinum . Cabin configurations continue to be 2-door regular Cabins , Super 4-Door Cabin , and Super-Crew 4-Door Cabin ( F- 450 , in pickup truck configuration, available only in this configuration), with Shorter Boxes (6 '9 ") and Long Lines (8') Trucks will be available in F-250 pickup truck models, F-350 , and F-450 , and F-350 , F-450 and chassis cabin models F-550 . All will be available in 4X2 and Configuration 4X4 . F-350 will be the only model available in either Single Rear Wheels (SRW) or Dual Rear Wheels (DRW) configuration, F-450 and F-550 will only be available in the Dual Rear Wheel (DRW) configuration, and F- 250 will only be available in the Single Rear Wheel configuration. Basic price in the US ranges from $ 32,535 (F-250 XL) to $ 77.125 (F-P latinum 450. Full price is available on the manufacturer's website.

In September 2017, Ford announced that the 2018 F-450 would be the first $ 100,000 pickup truck, with the addition of the new Limited trim , which first debuted at Ford F150 .

Machine

Ford has announced the engine lineup for All-new Super Duty:

All engines will be paired with a 6 speed automatic transmission "TorqShift", with a gasoline engine featuring 2 transmissions: a 5-speed manual transmission (Chassis Cab F-350 Mexico Market only), Ford's new "TorqShift-G" Ford transmission.

Super Duty will be available in eleven exterior color options.

Security reminder

On January 1, 2017, the truck F-250 Super Duty is built between 1 October 2015 to 1 April 2017 was withdrawn because of the risk of improper stems and damaged in the parking brake and transmission that allows the truck to move while in the garden. Variant

medium duty trucks (F-650 and F - 750)

In 2000, Ford returned to the Class 6-7 truck market as it expanded the Super Task line into the middle duty segment. Developed in a joint venture with Navistar International, F-650 and F-750 Super Duty assembled in Mexico. While the chassis and other components will be common to both manufacturers, Ford and International will each produce its own and powertrain; taxis for Ford trucks will be the same as other Super Task models.

For the 2016 model year, the medium-duty truck range was given a major upgrade, following the end of the joint venture and production shift to the United States. In lieu of the engines and transmissions being outsourced, the F-650 and F-750 2016 now use 6.8L V10 petrol, 6.7L PowerStroke V8 diesel, and Ford's 6-speed automatic transmission.

Sport-utility vehicles

From 2000 to 2005, the F-250 Super Duty serves as a base for Ford Excursion sport-utility vehicles. Along with Chevrolet Suburban (and partner Cadillac/GMC/Holden) and International Harvester Travelall, Ford Excursion is the longest non-limousine sport vehicle ever sold.

Excursions are available in three trim packages, XLT, Eddie Bauer, and the upper limit of Limited. It can be got in two or four wheel drive and with three engine options, 5.4L V8, 6.8L V8 or Powerstroke V8 Turbodiesel. Excursions are only available with automatic transmissions.

Although the Excursion is mostly sold in North America and Mexico, the same vehicle was sold in Brazil from 1998 to 2012 as a conversion from a second-party Ford F-250 (converter Centurion F-Series/Bronco) cabin..

Armored Vehicles

As a result of its heavy duty framework and chassis powertrain, the Ford Super Duty has served as a donor platform for various types of armored vehicles, for civil, law enforcement, and military use. Most versions are built using Ford F-550 chassis cabin. Examples include Didgori-2, Lenco BearCat, Plasan Sand Cat, GAV Gurkha, and Conquest Knight XV.
