Arby's is an American fast food chain fast food chain with over 3,300 vast and third-rate restaurant systems in terms of revenue. In October 2017, Food & amp; Wine calls Arby "the second largest sandwich chain in America (after Subway)".

Arby is owned by Inspire Brands, renamed Arby's Restaurant Group, Inc. (ARG). ARG was renamed when the company took over ownership of Buffalo Wild Wings on February 5, 2018.

Roark Capital Group acquired Arby's Restaurant Group in July 2011 and owns 81.5% of the company, with The Wendy's Company owning 18.5%. In addition to the classic Roast Beef and Beef 'n Cheddar sandwiches, Arby's products also include deli-style Market Fresh sandwich lines, Curly Fries and Jamocha Shakes. Its headquarters are in Sandy Springs, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta that uses the Atlanta mailing address.

As of December 31, 2015, there are 3,342 restaurants. There are international locations in five countries outside the United States: Canada, Turkey, Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

Histori

Arby was founded in Boardman, Ohio, on July 23, 1964, by Forrest (1922-2008) and Leroy Raffel, owner of a restaurant equipment business who thought there was a market opportunity for fast food franchises based on food other than hamburgers. The brothers wanted to call their restaurant "Big Tex", but the name was already used by Akron's business. Instead, they chose the name "Arby's", based on R. B. , the initials of R accompanying B rothers.

The Raffel brothers opened the first new restaurant in Boardman, Ohio, just outside Youngstown, on July 23, 1964. They originally served only roast beef sandwiches, potato chips, and soft drinks. Hoping to attract more luxurious customers, Arby's interior design is deliberately more luxurious in appearance than the typical fast-food sandwich of the day. Arby offers their roast beef sandwich for $.69 at a hamburger stand filled with $.15 for a hamburger. A year later, Arby's first license opened a restaurant in Akron, Ohio. Arby's famous "hat" is designed by the original marker, Peskin Sign Co.

During the 1970s, Arby's expansion took place at a rate of 50 stores per year. During that time, he created several menus, including Beef 'n Cheddar, Jamocha Shakes, Chicken Sandwiches, Curly Fries, and two distinctive sauces: Arby's Sauce and Horsey Sauce. Baked potatoes were added to the menu in 1968. Curly Fries was originally introduced as Curly-Q Fries in 1988. It became the first restaurant in the fast food industry to offer a full menu of "lite" in 1991 with some sandwiches and salads under 300 calories and 94 percent fat-free.

The family-owned business tried to turn into a public company in 1970 by offering stock sales, but the IPO never runs when the stock market then falls. In 1976, the family sold the company to Royal Crown Cola Company for $ 18 million and Leroy Raffel remained as CEO until his retirement three years later.

In 1984, Victor Posner acquired Arby through a ruthless takeover from his parent company, Royal Crown, through his DWG Corporation. Nine years later, with new owners of DWG Corporation and a new name, Triarc Companies, Inc., PepsiCo's former executive Don Pierce was brought in to "revive" Arby. With $ 100 million in additional funds, Pierce moved to a new "Roast Town" concept, similar in format to Boston Market, in 1996. The Roast Town concept received poor marks on market tests and was quickly stopped. Pierce and his team left the company and sold all 354 company-owned locations to the RTM Restaurant Group, an existing Arby franchise, for $ 71 million. Another marketing concept that was attempted was a dual-brand effort that began in 1995 with ZuZu's Handmade Mexican Grill. A marketing venture is a failure that results in a lawsuit filed by each company against another.

In 1992, Les Franchises P.R.A.G. Inc. opened the first Arby franchise in the Canadian province of Quebec. It is also the 100th location to open in Canada and joins other locations that then operate in the provinces of Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Manitoba, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. The Quebec location also sells typical French-Canadian dishes called poutine.

In 2002, Arby returned to the operating restaurant by buying Arby's second largest franchisee, Sybra Inc., with 293 locations out of bankruptcy beating the RTM thus preventing the RTM from becoming too large. RTM was purchased by Arby on July 25, 2005.

In 2008, Triarc bought Wendy's, and changed its name to Wendy's/Arby's Group, to reflect their core business. In January 2011, it was announced that Wendy/Arby's Group is trying to sell Arby's business side to focus on the Wendy brand. It was officially announced that the company will split on January 21, 2011. In 2009, the Wendy Group/Arby entered into a franchise agreement with Al Jammaz Group of Saudi Arabia to open Wendy/Arby's double brand through the Middle East with its first location opened in Dubai in United Arab Emirates on May 2010. The Wendy/Arby Group also signed a similar franchise agreement in June 2010 with Tab Gida Sanayi ve Ticaret to open a double branded restaurant in Turkey.

In 2010, Arby opened a restaurant in Ft. Bliss, their first location on an American military base under an agreement that the Wendy/Arby Group has signed a contract with the Army and Air Force Services to open restaurants in bases in the United States and abroad. Only American military personnel and some of their guests can degrade Arby's location on a military base and operated by Post Exchange.

There are two different attempts to operate a franchise in the UK. GSR Restaurant Group opened their first Arby franchise location in London in 1992 followed by a second location the following year in Glasgow. It was also the first location to open in Europe, but both were forced to close in 1994. In 2001, Barown Restaurant opened two Arby franchise locations in Southampton, Hampshire and Sutton, Surrey, but both were forced to close after a few months of operations.

On June 13, 2011, Wendy's/Arby's Group Inc. announced that it would sell most of the Arby chain to Roark Capital Group while maintaining an 18.5% stake in the company. At the time of the sale, Arby incurred an operating loss for $ 35 million with 350 Arby franchisees over 60 days late in royalty payments and 74 low-performing franchisees and 96 units forcibly closed. Despite the cash flow issue, Arby also reported that he had six months of sales growth in stores established in the United States that had been linked to a recently launched turnaround plan. New owners change companies by closing more poorly performing locations, changing company marketing strategies, and by introducing new products on a regular basis. After four years, Arby was able to spend $ 300 million in dividends, resulting in Wendy receiving $ 54.9 million for her minority share with the rest being paid to Roark.

In September 2017, Arby returned to Kuwait for the first time in two decades with the opening of Arby's franchise in Jabriya by Kharafi Global.

In November 2017, Arby announced it had negotiated a purchase for the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant chain for $ 2.4 billion in cash.

Arby is closed in mid-2012 when construction began to change its location to Wendy. Announced in August 2017, Coca-Cola has won a contract to serve Coke products in all its restaurants, ending a nearly 11-year relationship with Pepsi. The transition will begin in early 2018.

Early formations include French Dip & amp; Swiss grilled Sub, Philly Beef Toasted Sub, Sub-baked Classic Italian Toaster, and Turkish Bacon Club. Almost every year, Arby has offered some sort of flatbread melt sandwich for a limited time. In 2007 and again in 2008, it was Philly Cheesesteak and Fajita Beef. The Fajita beef returns with the new Fajita Chicken in 2009. After six years of absence, Steak Fajita Flatbreads is offered for a limited time by 2015. The following year, Steak Fajita returns in 2016 with Chicken Fajita along with a choice between hot and mild sauces.

After nine years of absence, pork mixed meatballs sandwiches were reintroduced in July 2016.

In August 2015, Arby introduced a series of five small sandwiches called Sliders starting at $ 1.29, with prices varying by location. This new menu item leads to increased sales in multiple locations. This was not the first time Arby had tried to market a miniature sandwich. Two years earlier, Arby tried to sell a similar product called Mighty Minis sold in pairs. During the first month of national sales, the company was able to sell 1 million or a ton of sliders. To encourage additional sales outside of normal lunch and dinner hours, start offering sliders and small and side drinks at a discount of $ 1 between 2 and 5 pm. starting in October 2015. Due to Arby's huge success in the increased sales created by the introduction of this new product line, Nation's Restaurant News provides the Arby's MenuMasters Award for 2016. Cheese Cheese was initially offered as a limited menu. in December 2016 but proved popular enough to be maintained on the regular menu. A Pizza Slider was introduced as a limited time menu item in May 2017.

At the end of August 2016, Arby introduced four chicken sandwiches using a pair of buttermilk-based pairs.

Arby debuted with a new sandwich known as Smokehouse Pork Belly Sandwich in October 2016.

In October 2016, word leaked through social media that Arby was going to test a venison sandwich, confirmed by Arby, selected 17 stores in Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin (all major deer hunting countries) to offer during the test four days during each state's hunting season. Prior to the start of the promotion, USA Today published the locations of all 17 participating restaurants. Both because of the curiosity and heavy demand of the hunters, the sandwiches were sold out in all markets on the first day of the exam. Another article USA Today reports that deer meat raised on farms is imported from New Zealand. The following year, Arby announced that the venison sandwich will return nationally on 21 October 2017, also available in limited quantities.

In September 2017, Arby introduced a Chicken Pepperoni Parms sandwich, their version of a chicken parmigiana sandwich that also contained pepperoni slices.

In October 2017, Arby announced that three locations in Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming would offer deer sandwiches for a limited time. Deer meat cultivated on farms used to make sandwiches is obtained from the same farm in New Zealand that provides venison for Arby as many states, such as Montana, prohibit the maintenance of game animals on commercial farms.

Some locations also serve breakfast, including on truck stop locations operated by Pilot Flying J and Love's Travel Stops and Country Stores which usually operate 24 hours.

Legal issues

In November 2002, Access Now filed a lawsuit against RTM, then the TriArc franchise, that about 800 of their stores disobeyed America with the Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). The lawsuit has no compensation obligations except for attorney's fees. In August 2006, the court accepted a settlement between RTM and Access Now. The result is that every year, 100 RTM stores will be installed to comply with the ADA. Thus, it is estimated that about $ 1.2 million will be spent on retrofitting those stores every year.

Data violations

In February 2017, Arby reported that they were investigating a malware attack on his payment card system that had targeted thousands of customer credit and debit cards. Malware is placed on the system of place of sale within the company's restaurant Arby, not the location owned by the franchisee, and is active between October 25, 2016 and January 19, 2017. Eight credit unions and banks from Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Montana has filed a lawsuit since early February against Arby about data breaches.
